Done! Day 9 Fenwick to Berwick 12 miles (plus diversion for closed railway crossing) Left St Cuthbert's Way and joined Northumberland Coastal Path. Track most of the way with some road sections. As soon as I hit Spittal Promenade I switched shoes to my Teva Sandals. We are tired but very happy. #earnedourbeer #herestothenextadventure
Day 8 Wooler to Fenwick 12 miles. Lots of road anf farmland walking. Great to finally get views of the sea. Now in the B&B watching the european championships climbing and giving my feet a wee break. Sadly the foot clinic was closed. #almostthere
Day 7 Mounthooly to Wooler, 12miles. Left the Pennine Way yesterday, now joined St Cuthbert's Way. Walked all day in the rain on good hill track over heather grouse moor. Such a shame we didn't get the views. Now drying off in the Black Bull. #gettingthereslowly
Day 6 the longest, hardest and best day so far. Byrness to Mounthooly, 20 miles! We woke to thunder and torrential rain, but still managed to set off early. Cool mist, springy peat paths and flagstone walkways along the Border Ridge rarely dropping below 500m. Thunder rumbled in the distance but stayed away. No pint tonight, staying in remote Mounthooly hostel. We are the only residents. Eggs, milk and cake from the owner is a welcome addition to our simple meal.
